We can explore the final chakra in our series. The point where all chakras come together in a unified way…
Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra

Located at the top of the head, the Crown Chakra ties into the proper functioning of our brain and the entire nervous system. It vibrates to the musical note “B” and the primordial sound of “Om”, that is often chanted by Buddhist and Hindus to awaken this energy center.

The Crown Chakra is represented by the color violet, as well as pure white light, representing the God-force. It is through the Crown Chakra that divine energy can enter into us, trans-mutating energy from our lower chakras into higher spiritual consciousness.

There isn’t a lot to be said about the Crown Chakra other than the fact that its function is solely dependent on the balance of the lower 6 chakras. Attempting to open the Crown Chakra before you’ve successfully integrated and harmonized the energy from the Root Chakra up to the Third Eye, is futile.

Why? Because, the Crown Chakra has a mind of its own so to speak. It doesn’t really open at your will or when you try to consciously direct energy toward it. It’s kind of like you cannot reach enlightenment through force. It happens naturally when its recipient is ready to be joined with a higher power and wisdom, coming from a divine source. This generally takes many years  of disciplined meditation and chakra work.

Now, there is such a thing as an underactive and overactive Crown Charka. Just remember that it is typically caused by blocked or stagnant energy in the lower chakras, nothing that cannot be resolved through chakra cleansing.

An Underactive Crown Chakra often results in a feeling of isolation caused by disconnectedness from God and our higher consciousness. This may lead to feelings of depression and loneliness.

An Overactive Crown Chakra means that we channel an overabundance of energy from the source, which can lead to colorful visions, dreaminess and a temporary disconnect from reality.  In fact, we may be channeling too much energy, which can be easily be resolved by grounding at the root chakra.

A Balanced Crown Chakra is the ultimate goal of all meditators, which is the integration of what the Hindus refer to as Shiva and Shakti or the male and female aspects of our personality (yin and yang).

An opening Crown Chakra can cause a tingling sensation at the top of the head. It raises energy in the body giving you a sense of supreme power and vitality. The effects tend to dissipate eventually, as your other chakras might periodically need some work.  And there’s no better way to open up the Crown Chakra than to cleanse ALL of your chakras on a daily basis.

We’re almost done with the chakra series. This is the before last one on the the Third Eye Chakra, so lets make it a good one.

If you haven’t already read…

I highly recommend that you do. Why? So that you better understand how you function as a whole.

Reading these posts, some of you are going to discover, that one or more of your chakras are out of balance and it may be affecting your emotional, physical and mental health. And if you’re walking around blind to the forces and energies that surround you, thinking you are immune to them, you are sadly mistaken. We are all affected by these forces and unfortunately in our culture, we are not educated about them, let alone taught how to shield ourselves. So, we are inevitably lead down the path of mental and physical degeneration, often before our time.

That being said, lets move onto…

The Third Eye Chakra

Also known as the “brow chakra”, because of it’s location between the two, this chakra is considered to be our psychic center. Opening up the third eye, can give a person the power to project themselves astrally, see into the future or communicate telepathically. This chakra is typically represented by the color indigo and resonates with the musical note A. Besides endowing a person with clairvoyance and “second sight”, the Third Eye Chakra is also the seat of our intellect, rational mind and wisdom. Physically, the Third Eye, affects the functioning of the pituitary gland, the brain, ears, eyes, sinuses etc. Imbalances in this area can cause a variety of health issues such as, brain tumors, stroke, blindness, learning disabilities, deafness etc. Another reason why keeping your chakras balanced and working harmoniously as a whole, can be beneficial…

So, now lets examine what are some of the characteristics of a Third Eye Chakra that is overactive, underactive and balanced.

An Underactive Third Eye Chakra

Do you often enter into a room and forget why you came there? Do you fixate unnecessarily on petty and mundane things? Do you worry too much? Do you occasionally suffer from “brain fog”? If you answered yes to any of these, you may have an underactive Third Eye Chakra. Because this chakra also affects our intellect, when it’s underactive, it can lead to learning disabilities, difficulty concentrating and remembering information.

An Overactive Third Eye Chakra

Do you often feel spaced out or lost in your own imaginary world? Do you find yourself overly sensitive to people or your surroundings? Do you dream in technicolor almost every night? If so, you could have an overactive Third Eye Chakra. Let me address something important about people with too much activity going on in their Third Eye. They can sometimes come across as uncaring and inattentive, simply because they are too busy processing all the stimuli that comes to them from all 5 or 6 senses. And these tend to be overly developed.

A Balanced Third Eye Chakra

Do you find you have an active creative imagination and great visualization skills? Do you sometimes have visions or prophetic dreams? Do you often know what others are thinking without them telling you?  If so, you are blessed. For one thing, having a balanced Third Eye Chakra, gives you kind of an aura of protection, in the sense that you are probably really really good at reading people. I mean so good, that you are almost immediately aware of people’s intentions, even before they say hello. Now, this can be advantageous if you’re in the healing profession. Having a balanced Third Eye Chakra gives us much clearer insights and sharpens our perceptions when dealing with others.

Part 5: The Throat Chakra

This is part 5 to a 7 part series on the chakras. For more info on the chakras, please refer to

The Throat Chakra

The Throat Chakra is commonly associated with the color blue and it vibrates to the musical note G. Our communication skills and speech are primarily influenced by this chakra. It is also associated with clairaudience, music and intellect.

Your ability to express yourself in an honest and sincere manner is a function of the Throat Chakra. Located in the center of the neck and throat region, this chakra governs our thyroid, esophagus and mouth. Sore throats, TMJ, and gum or tooth problems are some of the common physical issues we encounter when the Throat Chakra is out of balance. Many of those imbalances stem from our thoughts and emotions, as well as early parental influence.

Have you ever heard the expression, “children should be seen, not heard”? Well, depending on whether or not self-expression was denied or encouraged in your early years can make the difference between a balanced, underactive or overactive Throat Chakra.

An Underactive Throat Chakra:

Blocked or stagnant energy in the Throat Chakra is often the result of being denied self-expression in childhood. The effect of this may continue into adulthood causing an individual to struggle with honestly express their needs and wants. They may appear introverted and shy, preferring to listen to others, than to add their own input. Knowing what’s on their tight-lipped minds may require a certain degree of empathy and patience. They open up at their own pace. Pressuring them to tell you what they are thinking, will often urge them to clam up. Instead, they need to feel that you are truly receptive and that they won’t be judged for what they say or how they say it.

An Overactive Throat Chakra

At first, they may appear to be the life of the party, full of colorful stories to recount. As your attention starts to dwindle, you begin pondering, what is it about this person’s need to fill you in on every minute fleeting thought that enters their mind? The truth is, when a person’s Throat Chakra is overactive, they may tend to dominate conversations and sometimes have a hard time pausing to consider what other’s have to say. They tend to criticize and judge others unabashedly. They can be controlling and manipulative with their words, using them recklessly to impose their stubborn beliefs on others.

A Balanced Throat Chakra

With a balanced Throat Chakra a person will express themselves clearly and fluidly through speech, writing &/or music. Easily transitioning between talking and listening, gives them an advantage in building rapport with others. On a deeper level, the throat opens up telepathic communication that allow us to send and receive thoughts to and from people who vibrate at the same frequency, as we do. But even more importantly, a balanced Throat Chakra opens up lines of communication with our higher consciousness, giving us insight into the intentions of others, while helping us fulfill our true life purpose.
